ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, is classified as an ongoing pattern of attention difficulty, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness that interferes with daily functioning abilities.
When you think of ADHD, you most likely think of school-aged children. The truth is that any age group can be affected by ADHD.
Adult ADHD may not be as easy to identify because the hyperactivity will decrease, but these patients still have restlessness, difficulty focusing, impulsiveness, short attention spans, and other symptoms shared with childhood ADHD diagnoses. Many adults who have ADHD don’t realize they have it. They face daily struggles with deadlines, a lack of organization, planning problems, and memory issues and have learned to “deal with it.” Just like childhood ADHD, however, these symptoms can be addressed.
